Puff Pastry Pizza Bites

As a mom of two, I’m always on the lookout for snacks that are not only quick and easy to make but also kid-approved. That’s why I’m so excited to share one of our favorite recipes: Puff Pastry Pizza Bites.

These puff pastry pizza bites are a game-changer for busy families and snack lovers alike. The buttery, flaky puff pastry provides the perfect base for a melty, cheesy pizza topping that’s simply irresistible. What makes them even better is their versatility—customize them with your favorite toppings or what you have on hand, and they’ll still turn out delicious. They’re easy to whip up and bake quickly, making them ideal for those hectic days when you need a quick snack or appetizer. Plus, they’re a great way to get kids excited about food. My own kids love them, and I bet yours will too!

Notes

  • Toppings: Feel free to get creative with your toppings! Try adding diced bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, or cooked sausage.
  • Cheese: Mix in some cheddar or provolone cheese for a different flavor profile.
  • Herbs: Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick or some dried oregano for extra Italian flavor.

What other toppings can I use?

The possibilities are endless! Feel free to experiment with your favorite pizza toppings such as bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, cooked sausage, or even diced ham. You can also use different types of cheese like cheddar, provolone, or gouda for a unique twist.

How do I store leftovers?

Store any leftover pizza bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, place them in the refrigerator for up to a week. To reheat, simply pop them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes to crisp them up again.

1. Keep the Puff Pastry Cold: For the flakiest results, ensure the puff pastry stays cold while you’re working with it. If it becomes too warm, it can get sticky and difficult to handle.

2. Use a Pizza Cutter: For uniform squares, use a pizza cutter to quickly and cleanly cut the puff pastry. It’s much easier than using a knife and ensures even cooking.

3. Don’t Overfill: Be careful not to overload the pastry squares with toppings. Overfilling can cause them to spill over or not cook evenly. A small spoonful of sauce and a few toppings is all you need.

4. Brush the Edges: Brushing the edges of the puff pastry with an egg wash (beaten egg) gives them a beautiful golden-brown color and adds a nice shine.
